8 Minutes

It’s been a while since I mustered up the courage to sit and write. In fact, to be honest, my mind, heart and soul just went blank for a bit.

I read an article the other day that really resonated with me and I think that perhaps it’s something we all as a society need to hear.

The article was about connection within relationships. The jest of the article was that the excuse of being too busy to have a conversation with people you love at least once a week is lame.

In the article it was suggested that just 8 minutes is enough to make us feel connected, valued, loved, and was shown to help prevent suicidal thoughts.

Every bit of the article made sense. Let’s face it, 8 minutes is not a lot to ask for in order to make someone feel good.

Ask yourself why you cannot find 8 minutes to call someone you love. Really ask yourself.

I’m too busy? Doubtful. You find time for TV right. So losing 8 minutes of TV time to a conversation with someone you love isn’t worth it? If so, that should give you the real answer to the question.

Maybe you don’t really want a connection and you don’t really care about that person.

The article also mentioned that most of us feel we will have more time later and later never seems to come.

Don’t wait. One day you’ll wish you had those 8 minutes. We never know what is in store for any of us minute by minute.

Make sure you let those friends and family that you truly love know their worth and value in your life.

It can and will make all the difference in theirs.

Happy Sunday.
